A. You have the clearing out process backwards. :) Have someone haul away the broken stuff FIRST. Then you will have empty space that you can start dreaming about filling. You'll attract new furniture far faster that way than if you keep focusing on the broken stuff.

Then, ask someone in need who could fit in your sweaters (or an organization) to come over and get them and help you go through the stuff stored up high, with the payment being that she/they get to keep the clothes. (If necessary, also give her/them a little money for helping.)

Once you're not so overwhelmed with what obviously needs to be gotten rid of, the pathway to the next task will become obvious.
